Chelsea have completed the signing of Danny Welbeck from Brighton

Chelsea have officially completed the surprise signing of veteran striker Danny Welbeck from Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 35 year old former England international has put pen to paper on a contract running until June 2028, bringing a wealth of elite experience to Stamford Bridge.

While the transfer fee remains undisclosed, reports indicate the deal provides manager Xabi Alonso with a proven, reliable option in the final third as the Blues prepare for the upcoming campaign.

Welbeck arrives in West London following a strong run of form on the south coast, having netted 26 Premier League goals across his past two seasons with the Seagulls.

Boasting over 400 top flight appearances throughout a career that has included spells with Manchester United, Arsenal, Sunderland, Watford, and Brighton, the forward is expected to add much needed composure, tactical maturity, and depth to Chelsea's frontline.

Expressing his delight over the move, Welbeck noted that he is honored to join a club with such a rich history of winning trophies.

He immediately links up with Alonso’s squad during their preseason preparations, eager to prove that his work rate, leadership, and eye for goal can make an immediate impact for the supporters at Stamford Bridge.
